This short film expresses the journey of life using the human form at it's rawest, changes in lighting, and positioning of the body.
Life begins in the womb. Then one is born. We are helpless, depending on someone else to take care of us. This stage is shown by putting the body in the fetal position. Red lighting is used to create a warm glow as though one is in the womb.
Then one starts to grow. After some time one can stand on their own and they venture out into the world and start a life on their own. This stage is shown in different standing poses. The lighting is white and strong illuminating most of the body.
Then one starts to grow old. The body whithers and grows weak. In this stage the human form is shown falling to the ground. The lighting has gone dim. The face can not be seen. It is hidden in shadows. The shadow gross until death finally comes.
The body is now at its most vulnerable. Lifeless and limp without any power.

The purpose of this project was to make an animatic that portrays a certain genre of music. My genre was Salsa. I researched the instruments and origin of Salsa music. I also looked into the ever popular salsa dancing. Salsa dancing is passionate and sexy. I chose red for the background because red is know to be associated with passion, and love. Many female salsa dancers wear red dresses and red flowers in their hair. The rapidness of the beginning of my song made me want to use dancers in the beginning. The dancers are in an extreme pose to better stress the rapidness of the music. As the song slows down a little I switch to the instruments. The trumpets mimic the beat of the beat of the trumpets in the song. I then had the drums and cowbells move. There are many other instruments that are used in salsa music. I chose to use the drums, trumpet and cowbells because they are what I noticed the most in that song I chose.

I tried to use similar colors throughout the pieces to better connect them. The dishes and lettering on the measuring cup are red. The batter of the cake is red. I used a red table to set the plates on. Yellow shows up in the pieces as well. The oil, egg, and peaches. Food isn't always dull, it can be very colorful.

Panel 1
Panel one must have a dominate shape and an accent shape. I used a color pallet of green because it visually helps describe the word organic. The shapes that I used are elegant and flowing, much like the characteristics of plants.

Panel 2
Panel two had to have a dominate shape, accent shape and a decoration. I used an orange - brown pallet because these colors also describe organic things. Dirt, leaves changing colors, flowers, tree bark. The small curl object is the decoration. It goes with the flow of the the curves of the other objects but is small and has bland color.

Panel 3
Panel tree must have a dominate shape, accent shape, decoration and a pattern. I tried to make the piece more complex by using several colors. There are many colors in nature that stand and work together side by side. The background is a stone pattern. It has a tint of brown like dirt. I didn't want the background to stand out a lot. The dominate and accent shape overlap to make a sort of plant object.

Panel 4
Panel four must have a dominate shape, accent shape, decoration and a texture. The colors are more chromatic in this piece then in panel three. The dominate and accent shapes make a flower. The textured background is a closeup of a large rock. The colors that are seen here are the rocks true natural colors.

Part B

This panel is a composite of all the elements that panels 1-4 had. A dominate shape, accent shape, decorative shape, pattern and a texture. I used a wide range of colors. Many of the colors I used in this piece are also in the other pieces. Organic materials have a wide range of colors. Plants are all different shades of green. When fall comes things turn orange, yellow and red. I didn't use vibrant oranges and reds because the look I was going for wasn't a fall scene. To me the objects I used look like flowers, so I used reds, purple, pinks and greens. The background is a pattern of stones. I gave the stones a tint of brown for a feel of earth. Dirt can be many different colors of brown. The objects in the background are duller in color because they are farther away in space.

This panel has a natural shape that bares both organic and mechanical characteristics.

Panel 2

The development of an abstract non-objective design using 3-5 shapes based off the parent shape from panel one. Explore spatial complexity through size variation and ronal relationships.

Panel 3
The creation of an existing object natural or mechanical. Use of a monochromatic color scheme. I turned my shapes into cactus's. A cactus is prickly and the word that inspired my shapes was "prickly". I chose blue as my monochromatic color scheme because it allows me to use orange and green in the fourth panel for the triad.

Panel 4
Development of an environment interior or exterior view of a spatially active structure from the past, present or future. Using any triad based off of the monochromatic color scheme used in panel 3. The triad I used was green blue and orange. I chose these colors because the scene I created is a desert scene. I have size variation to help show space. Objects in the forground are brighter and more chromatic. Objects to the back are darker and less chromatic.
